Modena The dry farmers near Modena are heralding the report that a postofiice is going to be installed in the near future at the Heist Brothers farm five miles east of Modena. , California people are not all Jews as evidenced by the fact that 13 cars of hogs with about 60 to the car passed through Modena Mo-dena enroute to Los Angele s, California. Mrs. Bert Eldridge who has been with us for sometime has gone to visit with her mother at Bountiful, Utah. The Modena Sunday School ' is contemplating a Christmas celebration. cele-bration. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hill left us the other day, the former intending in-tending to spend some time at Enterprise fishing, while the latter lat-ter will visit with her mother. Mrs. B. J. Lund of St George. Mr. David C. Bulloch of Cedar City who is wintering his sheep in the vicinity of Modena, has been suffering for the past week from an enormous boil on the side of his neck, but he is feeling feel-ing better now. Mr. Archie Bond and' wife are ndw running an inn at the Bond rooming house. (Received too latb for last Issua.) Modena is on the improve There has been a coal shed and porch added to the U. S. Weather bureau. B. J. Lund & Co's. store has been newly painted. The Baker Lumber Co. has erected an office and warehouse ware-house in their yard near the school house and are now ready to do business in a businesslike way. The old faithful stage coach has again been brought into service ser-vice on the route between Modena Mo-dena and the Meadows on account ac-count of rough weather. Mr. Seward, the Salt Lake Route agent at Modena, is a bachelor no more, because his wife who has been away on a visit to Denver has returned. The Modena Sunday School is improving every Sunday under the leadership of Dr. Wm. Hosters. Mr. Bert Eldride, chauffer of the Perry stage line auto, is going go-ing to spend a few weeks in St. George, where he will probably do some hunting. Miss Grace Knell of Pinto is spending the winter here with her sister, Mrs.. Wm. Lund. Mrs. Fred Nance is the mother of a fine baby boy. Both are doing well. The Modena District School has installed a magazine stand for the purpose of creating an interest among its students for current literature. And they will be very glad to add the Iron County Record to their list of papers. Last week Mr. 'James Andrews of St. George made another shipment of cattle. About 700 head this time Mr. Andrews has sold as many of his cattle as he can gather to M. K. Parson and Rrche. Last week twdof our boys engaged en-gaged in a dispute which terminated term-inated in A. W. Jackson calling upon his knife for assistance which at once stimulated the finger of John McMayhon, that rested upon the trigger of his shot gun and Johnson's hat was very badly mangled, but he managed to make his get-away. The sheriff was notified and he now has the case in hand. i |
