Show Good Roads the Watchword. It is a matter of congratulation to all the people peo-ple of Southern Utah that tho roads of Washington county are to be still further improved this winter, win-ter, as the exchange of commoditites between Washington county and the counties farther north is an important item, to say nothing of the tourist tour-ist business that will come with better roads. Iron, Beaver, Garfield and even Piute counties depend largley upon the Dixie country (or their peaches, grapes, pomegranites and other semi-tropical fruits. Dixie comes to the northern north-ern counties for its coal, lumber, flour and other commodities, already, and with good roads this business will be doubled and trebled in a short time. Then take the tourist business. With a good automobile road through Washington county, hundreds of thousands of tourists from Northern Utah and the adjoining states will visit this woun-derful woun-derful section, which is acknowledged to be the peer of any country on tho globe for the production produc-tion of the commodities above named. With the question of transportation solved", many well-to-do people will have winter homes in Washington county, and will migrate back and forth to escape extremes in temperature. And while this will perhaps primarily benefit our southern neighbors, it will also be a great stimulus to the business of this section. Governor Spry is making no mistake in sending the convicts into Washington county this season. They are needed there worse than in any other part of the state, and the benefit conferred is not limited to the Dixie people-alone, but will provt a benefit to the entire state |
