It weighs three pounds, is 19& inches in circumference circum-ference lenghwise and 17 inches around measured between top and bottom. It is solid and perfect. per-fect. The variety is unknown but it is a winter pear being at its best about midwinter. It was grown in John Hafen's orchard at Santa Clara and the tree from which it was taken produces extra large pears, though this one was the largest of the crop. The tree is a prolific pro-lific producer, and Mr. Hafen says it makes the hands sore to catch the pears as they are dropped drop-ped from the tree. ' ' ' n Declare War on Colds .
