Show It begins to look as if President Wilson had made a mistake in proffering his good offices to the people of Mexico in the settlement of their internal strife and contentions. It is quite evident evi-dent that Provisional President Huerta has no intention in-tention of resigning at President Wilson's suggestion, sug-gestion, and it seems also, from Ihe cowardly butchery of prisoners by the constitutionalists that the President's sympathies and confidence in this side of the strife have been misplaced. Once in tho mess, it is hard to withdraw wthout compromising compro-mising this country, and it places the President in rather an embarrassing position, Mr. Wilson no doubt feels about like a well-meaning neighbor who interferes in a quarrel between a man and his wife, and wishes he had left the Mexicans J;o settle Hieir own troubles. |
