' Work will be resumed within I'1 tvTO or three weeks at longest on ',- the Queen City mine near Tron Sprinjs, owned by J. H. Arthur -f ' of this city. Up to the present ' time a total of ahout 165 feet of t work has been done on the pro- ' perty, consisting of a shaft 70 ( feet deep, from which a cross- x N ' cut is run into the hill for a dis- lj , tance of 60 feet, from which ' point a winze has been sunk to a depth of 35 feet. It is esti mated that this gives a surface ,' ' depth of about 150 'feet. The object of this work has been to find the ore ledge in place, and ? as the last work was in a solid . foramti onand the character of ' the rock indicates the direction of the-ledge, it is believed that 1a comparatively sh-jrt cross-cut will now cut the ledge. ? -"y- . k From theinroken and shattered t ' e&gir or vein above assays have been obtained that show as high as $65, principally in gold, and it is only reasonable , to expect that these values will increase greatly with depth, if the ledge can only be found. . Besides the work described above, another shaft was sunk f down the slope to the north, but the formation indicats that the I- ledge is 'farther south than the new shaft was commenced. In all Mr. Arthur has spent about $3,000 on the property. He has kept on tenaciously i without asking for assistance, I and certainly deserves to succeed in developing a producing mine. If successful, it will mean a great deal to this part of the country. |
