Show CHILDREN CELEBRATE FIRST COMMUNION A great many Butte children who have been preparing for their first communion -for several months celebrated cele-brated that . event in the Catholic churches last Sunday morning. At St. Patrick's church a class of 117. who have been under instructions from Rev. Father De Siei'e. received the Blessed Sacrament for the first time. The scene was a most beautiful one. as the children knelt at the altar for the first time to commune with their God; to eat of his flesh and drink of his blood, as He Himself directed. The girls were all dressed in white and their hair was draped with pretty flowers and flowing veils. The boys presented a manly appearance in their neat black suits, .with a. red rose-in the buttonhole and a white ribbon oh their arms sig- nifying faith and pui'ity. At St. Mary's church Rev. Father English had a class of about fifty-five, and at St. Joseph's Rev. Father Van Aken also had a large class. Many are being prepared at St. Lawrence's church by Rev. Father Batens and will make their first communion next Sunday Sun-day morning. The Children at Sacred Heart church received theirs a week ago. Rev. Father Callahan having had them under instruction since last September. |
