Show I Sacred Heart Academy Notes. SEPTEMBER CELEBRATION'S. Especially suitable for the beginning ctf the academic year is the month of September, when each week brings a reminder of Mater Admmirabilis. Ushered Ush-ered in with the first of the Nativity, we pause to celebrate a week later her Holy Name, and the following Sunday-finds Sunday-finds us-commemorating the Sorrows that saddened Mary's loving heart. This feast is especially dear to all members of the congregation of the Holy Cross, and is observed with due solemnity in every house of the order. Flower-decked altars, though sombre shades, prevailed, flickering votive lamps, all attested the love of Mary's children. The festive board may not be forgotten, and what the girls call a fine chicken dinner is recorded as an important item of the day. The Feast of Our Lady of Mercy again found all the pupils gathered at mass 'round Mary's shrine. Following the example of the Annunciation Annun-ciation Circle, whose doings were recorded re-corded last week, the various literary societies reorganized, with these results: re-sults: St. Teresa's society, composed of the second seniors. President, Miss Hazel Wilson. Glenwood, Springs; secretary Miss Mabel Krause, Ogden; treasurer, Miss Agnes Kennedy, Rawlins. St. Angela's Circle, composed of the third seniors: President. Miss Cecil Ragan, Ogden: secretary, Miss Ruby Cook, Fremonton: treasurer, Miss Maud McGuinness, Ogden. The Aquinos Circle, formed by the first preparatory class; President, Miss Stella Morris, Ogden; secretaaryl Miss May O'Connor, Ogden; treasurer. Miss Viney Howard, Ogden. St. Agnes' society, composed of the second preparatory class members: President, Miss Erma Stewart, Salt Lake: vice president. Miss Elizabeth Brown, Lovelock; secretary. Miss Ruth Baker Ogden; treasurer, Miss Ruth Ragon. Ogden. The outline for future work was planned by the directress of each society, soci-ety, and will be along lines beneficial to the pupils. Among the boarders who returned last week all were particularly ghad to wecome Miss Mary Duke, who, after an absence of three months in Europe, still declares there is no place like that over which the stars and stripes wave. |
