The i Toung Ladies' Library" Association : gave a delightful entertainment i and supper in the basement of the church on Wednesday evening, April 25, for the benefit of the library fund. A very interesting programme waa arranged for the occasion, and a meist enjoyable e-vening was spent by all who had the pleasure of attending. The funeral of Mrs. Thomas Burke, who died of pneumonia, was held from the Catholic church on Saturday, 21s. inst. Those who failed to attend services in the Catholic church on last Sunday morning missed one of the finest sermons ser-mons that has been delivered to a congregation con-gregation in that church. Father Ryan of Boston, who is a visitor in the city fcr his health, was able to deliver the address, and took for his text, "What will it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" Father Ryan is an able speaker and held the attention of his hearers throughout the service. Rev. Father Palladino of the Catholic Cath-olic church is very ill at the parsonage parson-age in the rear of the church on Pino street. The father has been ill for some time, but has been able to attend to his church duties. On Sunday he was unable to attend church. His trouble is with his lungs and it is feared he will have pneumonia. |
