Show I Obituary. 1 wwmmmwmmmmm Meaner. Richard Mealier, a member of The Herald reportorial staff, died at St. Mark's hospital shortly after 4 o'clock Thursday morning, of Bright's disease. dis-ease. Mr. Meaher was taken to the hospital a few days ago. For some time he had been in a precarious state of health. Two weeks ago he went to Kansas City for a vacation, expecting to regain re-gain his health. After his return he rapidly grew worse and was compelled to take to his bed. Perhaps no man in Salt Lake City-was City-was better acquainted with the old-time old-time newspaper men in the United States than Mr. Meaher. For several years he was a reporter on several of the Chicago papers and was there at the time of Eugene Field. F. Peter Dunne, George Ade and other writers, who have attained fame. Mr. Meaher was born in Maine fifty years ago. He was apprenticed to the printers' trade in his youth and later became a reporter on an eastern paper, pa-per, going later to New- York. For some time Mr. Meaher was city editor of the Kansas City Journal. 4 Condon. Deep sympath3r is extended to Mrs. Mary Condon in her bereavement caused by the death of her young son Elliot. The lad was 11 years old, a remarkably bright, clever boy, and his death is deplorable. The Intermountain Intermoun-tain Catholic joins with many friends in tendering consolation to the mother who sadly mourns the loss of her affectionate, af-fectionate, manly boy. |
