Show ROCK SPRINGS, WYO. Extensive improvements will be made this fall in the repair department of the Union Pacific railway in this city, says the Miner. The old. unsightly and Inconvenient buildings will be removed . and a new building, 50x180 will be erected. This building will be large enough to accommodate the offices, machine ma-chine shop, carpenter shop, blacksmith shop, etc., as well as leave room for the storing of the more valuable repair stock which is constantly on hand. Sev- i eral'new repair tracks will be put in and sufficient , improvements made to make this the most important repair place between Omaha and Ogden. Few people in our city realize the. extent and importance o the "rip tracks." j Between sixty-five and eighty men, with a payroll of $5,000 a month, are employed the entire twelve months in the year; last month 400 cars were repaired re-paired and in the past year more than 15,000 have gone through this depart ment. An extensive tock of lumber ; l and other material ranging from $15,000 i to $20,000 worth, is always on hand, ; and the men have every modern ap- ' pliance to facilitate their work. ! |
