A new class of workmen has I been coming in for the past few weeks I and from present indications there will I be a larger colony in the steel works I suburb. These people are the Leach-ans. Leach-ans. The Leachans are really Greeks. They are a class of people of Greek parents, who live in a province o f Austria. They speak the Greek language, lan-guage, but to a certain extent have the habits of the Austrians. About twenty-five of them have arrived within the past few weeks and have been assigned to the different departments depart-ments in the Minnequa plant. They are very strong and it is thought will be top notchers as workmen. A few of them have received employment at the j different smelters. f Every citizen of Pueblo ought to appreciate, and many of them do already al-ready appreciate that the coming State Fair, to be held in Pueblo Sept. 11 to 15, offers one of the greatest opportunities op-portunities this city has ever enjoyed. In the first place the display of Colorado products, and especially those connected with the agricultural, horticultural hor-ticultural and stock raising industries, will be larger and better then ever before in the history of Colorado. This has been an exceptionally good year for the farmers, and beside that, there has been a rapid development in Colorado Colo-rado agriculture in the past few years which cannot fail to produce a favorable favora-ble effect tiixm the fair. -- Each train at the Union depot brings in many Pueblo persons who have been enjoying themselves, either in the mountain resorts of Colorado or visiting visit-ing friends or relatives in outside states, where they can secure rest and juiet and enjoy themselves in a cool spot. It is needless to say that Pueblo has been 'having some "duecely warm" days during the past, few-months, few-months, and Old Sol has not yet ceased beaming down upon Pueblo, yesterday being one of those "uncomfortably" "uncom-fortably" warm days, t . |
