The Miners', Union broke ground on Thursday of last week for their new-building, new-building, which will be erected, just north of the Roy Mercantile company's store on Main street. The building will contain the executive offices and the hall where the union will hold its meetings. 4 J. C. Harrington was struck on the head by a piece of falling rock at the Daly West mine, and received painful though not serious injuries. , . 4 The new Rocky Mountain Bell Telephone Tele-phone company's switchboard has been installed and will . be connected up as soon as the improvements, being 'made on the system throughout the city have been completed. The company is spending thousands of dollars in this city,, and when finished the' service will be as complete and up-to-date as any in the state. - One of the social events of last week j was the card party given Tuesday afternoon af-ternoon by Aire. John -.Welsh at Iter home on Woodsitle avenue. The ir?.n:c of five hundred ws played, and the prizes were won by .Mrs. Buck and Aire. Towey. After the prizes had been awarded, light refreshments were ssrved by Airs. Welsh. -4 Mrs. J. Murphy and Miss Viola Sullivan, Sul-livan, who have been visiting in the Park with Airs. John T. Harrington for the past two months, returned to their homes last week. 4 Aliss Hallie Fcrron and Mrs. Frank Donovan returned to Salt Lake. 4 Aliss Valentine R. After the ceremony the bridal j party was driven to the house of the bride's . parents, where a wedding i breakfast was given, and only the immediate im-mediate relatives were present. In the evening a reception was given to their many f iends, and the young couple left for Salt Lake, where, after a short visit, they will return and be at home to their friends. Airs. AI. J. Alulloy and daughter. Miss Lillian, of San Francisco, were guests of honor at a charming luncheon given ! at the home of Airs. M. J. AIcGill and her mother. Airs John ArcSorlev. The Elks will hold their next state conventicv at Park City. This was decided de-cided upon Wednesday when the Park-ites Park-ites won over Eureka by the close vote of 33 to 30. The contest was waged With much enthusiasm. Salt Lake and Provo supported Eureka and 0?den and a. few scattered Salt Lake delegates supported Park City.
