Show SACRED HEART ACADEMY. , Entertainment at , ' Ogden Complimentary Compli-mentary to Alumni Association. Thursday evenirig'Nov. 14, the graduates grad-uates of 1902 gave a musical and literary liter-ary entertainment complimentary to the Alumnae association. An interesting interest-ing programme, embracing readings from the academy paper, "The Star of the West," vocal and instrumental selections, se-lections, was admirably rendered. Miss Avery's vocal solo called forth prolonged applause,"!Jbut she merely bowed her acknowledgment of the it-core. it-core. Her harp solo, "Auld Lang Syn V touched a tender chord in the hearts of all. Miss Cannon's rendition of Schumann's "Slumber Song," and Miss Johnson's skillful interpretation of Liszt's "Rhapsody," were pronounced rare musical treats. Miss Johnson rendered her violin solo, "Chopin's Nocturne," with a . delicacy of touch that evinced great talent. All the numbers of the paper were thoroughly enjoyed. especially the poems by Miss MacMillan. "The Grid-uate's Grid-uate's Tale of Woe,", by Miss Raid, arcl the local items in prose and verse by Misses Cannon and 'Avery. Miss Mo-ran's Mo-ran's religious theme, Miss Hawley's essay and Miss Sullivan's criticism received re-ceived well-merited appreciation. At the close Rev. P. Cushnahan com plimented the graduates on their ability abil-ity to entertain, and hoped the pleasure of the evening would be renewed frequently. fre-quently. He made some pleasing allusions allu-sions to the wit and humor of the members whom he styled the Seven Gifts of the Holy Ghost. When the entertainment was over the twelve members of the alumnae present, and the seven graduates, repaired re-paired to the dining room, where a surprise in the form of a dainty repast awaited them. Miss N. Maguire, the recently elected president, in a graceful speech, thanked thank-ed the class of 1902 in behalf of the alumnae; and Miss Carnahan, the ex-president, ex-president, thanked both sisters and graduates for a most enjoyable evening. even-ing. We quote the last stanza of Miss McMillan's Mc-Millan's beautiful greeting to the iumnae: We who watch the rosy morning Bursting to the golden noon: You who see the sunbeams fading To the silver-tinted moon Gathered here in golden union You to feel the weolcome true That your "Alma Mater" tenders Through the class of 1902. |
