Show Diocese of Denver, DENVER. Father Robert Lectures to Non-Catholicc Non-Catholicc on Confession. (Special Correspondence.) Rev. Father Robert, C. P., who Is giving a mission in the pro-cathedral, gave a special lecture for the benefit of non-Catholics on last Sunday evening. His subject was "Confession." He began with a discussion on the Church. He then explained what sion as practiced by the Catholic churcuh. He then explained what "Confession" really is, and the various va-rious requisites for a good confession. -After this Father Robert passed on the scriptural proofs that the sacra ment of penance was divinely Instituted. Insti-tuted. From the Protestant Bible he quoted several passages which were decidedly de-cidedly convincing.- In every particular particu-lar the lecture was k success. Father Robert is an excellent narrator narra-tor and told many amusing stories, which added interest to his discourse, and mingled harmoniously with his more solemn and serf ious thoughts on ! the grand subject of the confessional. ! The music was particularly good. Miss Murphy sang the "Veni Creator" and a hymn to the Sacred HeartfizAt the benediction ben-ediction Mr. Sayre sank "O Salutaris." A bass solo, "The Tantune Ergo," was sung in "horus: .."ll. On Tuesday evening, Father' Robert delivered another lecture to non-Catholics, this time choosing for his subject. sub-ject. "The Real Presence." As on Sunday evening, the church was filled to its utmost capacity. The mission will close on Sundayrevening with the Papal Benediction. ' |
