Show Friends of Admiral Schley knowing his financial condition and crediting reports re-ports that the expenses of trial before the naval court of Inquiry would leave him penniless, have suggested a public subscription. In a letter to a newspaper news-paper publisher suggesting aid from such source, the admiral replied, modestly, mod-estly, but firmly, rejecting the offer. "The matter is too delicate to diseusa," he said, and trusts that his friends will "appreciate his position and respect it." That is just like Admiral Schley. |
