Show CATHOLIC SOCIETIES. Among the notable addresses recently recent-ly delivered in K. of C. circles was thai of th Rev. James H. Halligan, chaplain of Wellsville (O.) council, at a bancuet held by the Knights of Columbus Co-lumbus of that place. Among Other things he said: . "The Church, at whose baptismal funt and in the name of whose Triune Gisd Columbus received the name of Christopher, and at whose altar he received re-ceived the Bread of Life, which made him Christopher, not only in name, but a!o in deed, Christopher the C.hr-st-bearcr and bv the imposition of whose bishop:s hands he received the Holy i Ghost, which made him that strong and valiant soldier of Jesus I hrist as ! he proved himself so faithfully to be, by deeds of valor and renown, wn ch have merited to have his name inscribed in-scribed upon the immortal tablets of all time because it was he who, being the instrument in the hands of God, discovered dis-covered America, and thereby w-as- the pioneer of all the blessings winch have followed in his train.
