Show Diocese of gbeyetine. LARAMIE. Murphy-Myers Nuptials Was an Unusually Un-usually Interesting Event. Miss Nellie G. Murphy, daughter of Hon. M. H. Murphy, one of the first citizens of Laramie, was married recently recent-ly at St. Liwrence Roman Catholic church, to Robert Myers, Esq., of Cheyenne, Chey-enne, Rev. Father Hugh Cummisky officiating. offi-ciating. Miss Murphy is one of the loveliest and most accomplished and popular young ladies in Laramie, having been i born here and receiving her education in St. Mary's school, with - a business course in the Wyoming state university. The groom is a southern man by birth, but came to Cheyenne with his parents a number of years ago, and until quite recently has been connected with the operating department of the Union Pacific Pa-cific road on the Fifth district. When the order was Issued recently extending the runs of engineers and firemen through from Cheyenne to Rawlins, he was among those who resigned, and then accepted a position with Thomas Heany, Esq., a well known Cheyenne business man. Mr. Myers' headquarters was in this city long enough for him to become widely known and universally esteemed. The ceremony at the church was witnessed wit-nessed by a large concourse of friends of the bride and groom, to many of whom it was rendered unusually interesting on account of the position occupied in this community for over a third of a century by the bride's father, as member of the legislature and chairman at various times of the city and county Democratic central cen-tral committees, and becairse of the fact that the beloved and distinguished priest, now talked of in connection with elevation eleva-tion to the bishopric of this diocese. Rev. Father Cummisky, and who performed the marriage ceremony tonight, officiated at the baptism of the bride when an infant, in-fant, as well as at that of all her brothers broth-ers and sisters. The ceremony was performed according to the imposing ritual of the Catholic church. The bride was exquisitely gow-n-ed in white silk organdy, her veil being fastened with diamonds. Her attendant. Miss Mamie Hickey of Ogden, who is also her cousin, wore pink silk organdy. The i groom's best man was Mr. Timothy Will- lams of Cheyenne. Following the cere-, cere-, mony there was an elegant reception at j the house, corner of Second and Fremont i streets, after which Mr. and Mrs. Myers left on the eastern express for Denver and other eastern points. At the conclusion con-clusion of their wedding tour they will return to Chevenne. which will be their future home. Mr. Murphy, father of the bride, came to Laramie in lSi7, two j-ears before the railroad. |
