Show ANACONDA. For the first time in the history of the church in Anaconda Bishop Brondel Bron-del celebrated Pontifical High Mass at St. Paul's Catholic church yesterday morning. The occasion was a memorable me-morable one for the Catholics of the city. The bishop also administered the rite of confirmation to ten boys, fifteen girls and three adults. The great services of the day began at 10:30 a. m. and lasted until about 1 o'clock. First, the procession was formed at the pastoral residence. It was led by cross bearer and candle bearers and acolytes. Following them came those who were to be confirmed and then the clergy, the bishop last of all. The Pontifical Mass. of course, was an imposing and solemn service. It was made more beautiful by the splendid splen-did music. The full choir, under the direction of Dr. Spelmnn. rendered Sneckert's Mass. The bishop preached an eloquently and scholarly sermon, his subject being "Ten Reasons Why I Believe in the Catholic Church." It was ,ot addressed solely to those about to be confirmed, but to the entire congregation, con-gregation, which was one of the largest larg-est ever assembled in St. Paul's. After Mass came the confirmation services. Before the service was over the bishop made an announcement that was pleasing both to the pastor and the congregation. It was that as soon as possible he proposes to send an assistant priest to St. Paul's. The bishop has been in the city since Wednesday of last week. During his stay he has visited and inspected both the Catholic churches and all tin church institutions in the city. Ed Lenshan. a popular employee of the A. C. M. Co.'s general offices, resigned re-signed his position and left for Dayton. Day-ton. O., where he wil lengage in the hardware business with his brother. |
