Show IDAHO BANKS LOAN 34 MILLIONS IN SIX MONTHS OF '40 NEW YORK Eighty-four pet-cent pet-cent of Idaho's cam-nercial banks made more than 84,000 loans totaling total-ing $34,000,000 to business firms and individuals throughout the state during the first six months of 1940, according to the semi-annual survey of bank lending activity, activi-ty, made by the American Bankers association. The A. B. A. loan survey was participated in, by 45 Idaho banks, or 84.9 per cent of the 53 commercial com-mercial banks in the state. These 45 banks reported that they made between January 1 and June 30, 1940. 02,485 new loans total'g $21,383,492 21,344 renewals of loans 11,252,236 688 mortgage loans 1,973,149 184,517 . $34,608,877 The survey showed that business firms in the state used only half of the "confirmed open lines of credit" maintained for their use on the books of banks. A total of, 20 hanks in the larger 'centers of the state reported that they carried on their books $4,864,431 in "open lines of credit" offered to and kept available for regular! borrowers for use as needed by them. Of this amount $2,392,003 or 49.2 per cent was used. The average number of new loans made per bank during the six months period under review was 1,389 and the average size of loan was $342. The average number of loans renewed per bank was 474 and the average renewal, was for $527. The average number of new mortgage loans made per bank was 15 and the average new mortgage made; was for $2,86S. The Idaho survey was part of a national survey of bank lending activity made by the American Bankers association.
