Show World Conflict Predicted In 1843 By Founder Of Mormonism; Forecast Ultimate Victory For The United States After World - wide Conflagration "War between the United States and Japan 'at the end of 100 years' was foretold in 1843 by Joseph Smith, founder of the Mormon Church, in what is known as the 'White Horse Prophecy,' " wrote Robey Parks in the Chicago Herald-American one week after Japan's "yellow men" attacked Pearl Harbor. Parks' article, one o a series he prepared tor the Herald-American tells the story of Joseph Smith's prophetic prediction. "He predicted," wrote Parks, 'the most terrible scenes of bloodshed, murder and rapine' the world has t ever known and warned that the Nipponese would invade the west coast 'unless care is taken.' "Smith forecast attacks against the Constitution of the United States before the world conflagration conflagra-tion came to pass, and faresaw ul-tiruated ul-tiruated victory for this nation wihen he declared : j " '1 love the Constitution. It was r.ir.do under the inspiration of God. It will finally be saved and preserved.' pre-served.' "He forecast that before peace is finally re-established England and her allies would face a fight to prevent Russia from conquering the world, adding; " 'The Black Horse (India) will join Russia. Armed with British bayonets, the doings of the Black Horse will be appalling. The Turkish Tur-kish empire of the Crescent will be disrupted. There is a land near the Rocky Mountains that will be invaded by the Japanese unless care is taken.' "Another Mormon prophecy," continues Parks, "published in Vol. 20 of Journal of Discourses, foretells the present world conflict and places its epi-center in the Pacific: " 'I then foresaw a new International Inter-national war break out, sweeping and encircling all nations, but with its final center in the Pacific ocean. " 'I saw world-wide dislocation and devastation of production and slaughter of people occur more swiftly and upon a larger scale j than ever before. " 'I saw the international war automatically break down, and national na-tional revolutions occur in many of the embattled countries, to complete com-plete the work of chaos and desolation. deso-lation.
