Hawkes To Hold Open House In Observance of Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fredrick Hawkes of Preston will observe their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, March 29, 1942, with an open house at their home on 155 Bast First South street for all relatives rela-tives and friends between the hours of tiiroe and six in the afternoon. aft-ernoon. A homecoming for all the immediate family will be held Saturday Sat-urday evening, March 28. Mi. and Mis. liaivkes wore. nu. ;-ried ;-ried in the Logan temple on March 29, 1S92. Mr. Hawkes, a son of Joshua and Mary Lewis Hawkes of Franklin, served a three year mission term in Virginia when a young married man. Together with H. T. Rogers ho built the old Palace Pal-ace Market building on South State street and established the first butcher shop Preston knew. He continued in this business for twenty-two years. During his many years as a churcth leader, Mr. Hawkes has served as a counselor in the First ward bishopric and as Sunday School superintendent of Fourth ward for eight years and for eight years in the First ward. Mrs. Hawkes, formerly Florenco Pratt, was a daughter of William and Charlotte C. Pratt of Franklin. While her husband was on a mission mis-sion she and their two small children chil-dren moved to Preston where she became postmistress. She lias been a faithful church member ull her life, serving in the Fourth ward Primary presidency for two yearn and as Mutual president of 1.lio First ward for three years. Eiglit children, who will honor their parents Sunday are; Mrs. Vera Keller, Whitney; Mrs. Ann Cowley, Venice, Utah; F. Pratt Ilawken, Salt Lake City; Mis. Charlotte Wray, Pocatello; Harold P. Hawkes, Mrs. Virginia Barfuim, Preston; Kendrlck C. Hawkes, l'o-latello; l'o-latello; Mrs. Clara Dean Morrison, Preston. The couple have twenly-eight twenly-eight grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. |
