Show Local News Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Smith of Manti, were the house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Overfelt last Sunday. Miss Zada Hoffhiens of Springville.is here for a two week's visit with her grandmother, Mrs. Elien Hofhiens. Be a Gunnison supporter and go and root for the Kings at the ball game in Gunnison next Monday afternoon. Mrs. Roy Bagley and son, left this mornig for Moroni. They will be absent ab-sent several days visiting with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. O. R. Stewart of Benj-aman, Benj-aman, have returned to their home. They were here to attend the funeral of their niece, Leila Nielson, held last Saturday. . Bert Newman, the pedagogue, came in from Driggs, Idaho, last evening. Bert's school has just closed and he will spend a few days in Gunnison visiting with his mother, Mrs. S. E. Newman. Mrs. James Bown was hostess to the members of the Social Circle club at her home Wednesday afternoon from 2 to 5:30. During the "needlscraft" work Mrs. Daunt Sanders gave a reading, read-ing, "'Mother Thomas. " Refreshments were served at five o'clock. C. P. Crawford, representing the Utah Fuel company with headquarters at Salt Lake, drove from Nephi last Sunday to witness the ball game between be-tween Manti and Gunnison. Crawford is a "genuine fan" and he declared he got well paid for the long drive. Miss L. S. McMonigal will leave the fore part of the coming week for an extended visit to cities in Ohio. She will go direct to Oroville, spending some time there with relatives and friends and later she will visit other parts of Ohio. Miss McMonigal will return to Gunnison in the early fall. Baseball fans and those who are not fans will become fans, are reminded that the opening game for the Southern Utah Baseball league to be played in Gunnison, will be staged at the Gunnison Gunni-son diamond, next Monday afternoon. Dont forget this important event. Richfield and Gunnison will appear in the opening of the series at this city. C. C. Edmonds, Parley Christiansen and Jake Bastian were among those from Gunnison who attended the hearing hear-ing of the application of the Telluride Power company for an increase of rates. The hearing was before the Public Utilities Commission and the delegation from here were present to interpose an objection to an increase of rates. , |
