Show Why Send Printing To Outside Towns? The News has a just "kick" coming, com-ing, and . to be frank and to determine deter-mine who is responsible, the editor will ask the question: "Why is all the high school printing sent out of town and who is responsible for having hav-ing it sent elsewhere for printing?" At the outset, we wish to make a correction of a report that is being circulated, for what purpose, we are at a loss to know. Several business men have approached the publisher and have asked why our prices are so high in quotations to the high school. We have made no quotations, neither have we had a chance to bid on the printing, excepting the year book, and this was more than two weeks after prices had been asked for from Salt Lake and Richfield printing offices. In explanation as to prices, we will say that we are using the Franklin Frank-lin price list, a standard of prices used in more than 15,000 offices throughout the United States and Canada. This list is the result of years of study by one of the most competent experts on cost prices in tho country, and by its use the customer cus-tomer as w;ell as the producer is saved hundreds of dollars. The cost of each and every job, generally speaking, is figured to the closest margin, and is one of the cleverest publications ever used for this purpose. pur-pose. When given a chance to make a bid on printing the producer of work can always give the customer a square deal. What more could be asked? At no time has The News waged any war against the high school. On tne otner nana, it nas put torin us best efforts to land it and place it before be-fore the public and has devoted column col-umn after column in publicity work. Do the offices outside of the city, and where the printing is being done, do as much Do the outside printing office- pay taxes in your town and do they spend their money in Gunnison? Do they do anything for the support sup-port of your schools and your city? Supposing all were to apply the same method in buying household necessities necessi-ties and all the money were spent outside, what would he the result? The News is not and will not be unreasonable, notwit listad'ing the fact that 'the report is being circulated circu-lated to this effect,.' On practically all of the work' done for the commencement com-mencement exercises The Xews has been ignored, and the only explanation explana-tion offered is that the prices are too high. No quotations have been asked 'and the only reply is Ihat "wc heard 'your prices were so much higher" than elsewhere. j We are not asking only what is ' fair, and we would like to know who j is responsible for the work being sent out. and why. |
