Show Bullfrog Marina on Lake Powell For the first time this year, there are also all-day boat tours and part-day part-day tours available on request. There is a paved boat launch ramp, a boat repair shop, a marina store with boating supplies and gas dock. Included in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Bullfrog Marina is one of five located at various points along Lake Powell which was formed in the early 1960's when the Glen Canyon Dam was constructed. Beautiful Bullfrog Marina on Lake Powell in the Glen Canyon Recreational Area is accessible by land only from Garfield County's Utah 276 in the eastern part of the : country or by the Burr Trail Road, an improved dirt road heading southeast from Boulder. The marina is located at the approximate ap-proximate mid-point of Lake Powell on the north shore of the sparkling lake across from Halls Crossing. The new John Atlantic Burr ferry, launched in May 1985 provides access to Hall's Crossing and scenic attractions in Arizona. The new ferry has a capacity for two buses, eight cars and 150 passengers. The 3.1 mile crossing takes 20 minutes. The Burr Trail is suitable for passenger vehicles, pickups and large vehicles during good weather. The unsually scenic road traverses Capitol Reefs geological wonder, the Waterpocket Fold, wtih numerous switchbanks. It is not generally recommended for vehicles pulling trailers. Travelers can obtain information from the local road department or from Anasazi Indian Village museum in Boulder. At Lake Powell, there is avariety of activiies for the visitor, with houseboats for rent, superb fishing, swimming, camping, powerboating, waterskiing, picnicking, etc. 1 There is a paved airstrip 4,500 feet long and scenic flights are also available. The fishing is very good around Bullfrog Bay and there are many historic and scenic destinations within a day's travel or less from Bullfrog. At Bullfrog there is a new 47-room lakeside lodge and restaurant, eight housekeeping units, and 24 recreational vehicle spaces with hookups. The National Park Service operates a campground with 86 sites and is equipped with showers and toilets and located close to the marina. Food and other supplies can be purchased at the marina store. Picnic facilities are provided close to the marina where there are three pavillions with a capacity for approximately ap-proximately 50 people. In addition, there is an extensive beach area for more informal picnicking. At the marina there are 95 housebo.'is, generally rented in advance, so it is good to plan ahead. There are also 48 powerboats and 32 fishing skiffs for rent. |
