Show County Road Worker Is Honored Recently retired from the Garfield County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator and transport driver, Karl Lowder, Hatch is looking forward to a life of chores he wants to do and salmon fishing that he's going to do. Lowder, recently honored for his 14 years with the county and admiring ad-miring a gold watch given to him by the county commission, regaled the commission by telling of his plans to return to the Rogue River country in the Northern California southern Oregon area and catch the companion com-panion fish to the 26-pound 42-inch-steelhead salmon that he caught on a recent junket to the area. No fish is safe he said, when he and his Reva . begin to wend their way up and own the Rogue. Lowder the father of one boy and four girls was. reared in Parowan came to Garfield county for night school. He worked for many years with the now defunct Mammoth Lumber Company as a tree feller before the chainsaw came into being. He worked for over 10 years on road construction and for many years was a tree feller for the Kaibab Company after chain saws came into use. Lowder an ex-mayor of Hatch, a bishop's counselor and a member of the Hatch IDS Ward's high priests group leadership has "many little things to do around home," he said, "but one day I'll get to them." He said he's worked hard all his life and he will miss that. He also said that he will miss the fellowship of his co-workers. |
