Show Boulder School Gets Approval from Board BOULDER Boulder residents learned this week that their elementary school aged children will no longer have to travel to Escalante to school. The Garfield County Board of Education approved establishing an elementary school with grades K-6 at last Thursday's school board meeting. Approval was granted by the hoard for a two-year trial pc.lod with mobile classrooms to be used in lieu of a permanent building until the success of the school Is evaluated. The school district received approval ap-proval from the state on May 13 for "Necessarily Exists Small School" status for Boulder Elementary which will help to defer costs of operation for the district. Tne district has advertised for a teacher to handle all seven grade levels. The two-year trial period will pet .nit school board members to determine if the enrollment will consistently meet the 12 students required. Currently, 16 students have pre-enrolled. Parents had asked the school district for the school in LVlr community because of the length of time students were required to spend avray from 'Dome traveling to school in X'-scalta'S; via bus. |
