Show - Panguitch fatter - Mamie Talbot What feels like the end of an era is coming about as we gather at funerals fu-nerals to say goodbye to a generation genera-tion of men and women who have lived and worked with teams of horses and wagons to jets and satellites. This past week the family of Alton Talbot brought him home to be buried in the land he loved. His family was born and raised here before be-fore they moved north to have their own families. The four Talbot girls Evelyn, Reva, Melba and Ethelane and most of their children honored their dad with a musical program at his funeral. Alton was prominent in musical happenings throughout his life. Others from out of town here were Alton's remaining sister Opal Norton and brother Ellis Talbot, Ora Myers, the Jimmy Myers, the Ned D. Myers, Jeff Owens, Eldon Mclffs, Art Talbots, Tom Talbots, Hal Wilcocks, Freda Talbot's daughters Arda Talbot and Meladine Talbot, the former Elva Myers, Gean Henrie, Marie Veater and the Don Excells. The Earl Roes went to St. Louis to spend four days at a reunion of Earl's WW II 11th Bombardment Group. They ran into the Ray Houstons at church there and spent a day telling them all that was going go-ing on in the hometown. Russell Roe's daughter Angela Roe graduated from an Omaha high school and plans to attend Brigham Young University this fall. The Doug Roes stopped with Earl and Evelyn on their way from Philadelphia Philadel-phia to Doug's new job at Big Hole National Battlefield in Montana. They have a new baby girl, Mae-gan, Mae-gan, to add to their other two girls and one boy. Beverly Roe Peterson's Peter-son's daughter Amber Peterson was baptized by her father Pete Peterson in Enoch. The Verd Worthens granddaughter granddaugh-ter Janee Wagner, Randy Nielson and Troy Nielson are staying at the Worthen cabin at Panguitch Lake and come down to work at shingling, shin-gling, painting, and repairing their grandparents home in town. The Tim Christensens were here from Phoenix to visit mom and dad Worthen. Mrs. Christensen is the former Fayann Worthen. The Verd Worthens have also had former Panguitchites Avis Heidt and the Bob Justet family from Provo here and Howard Larson from Mapleton. Hilma Excell finally made it home from up north where she has been traveling from one kid's home to another to attend, graduations, track meets, mission reports and family reunions. This business of being a grandmother calls for a lot of stamina. The Pat Dix family attended the graduation of son Kelley Dix from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City where he received an associate as-sociate degree in electronics. Steven Dix and Brandon Dix then stayed with their grandparents while Kelley Kel-ley and Roxann moved to St. George where she has a job as assistant as-sistant manager at McDonalds. Other family members here to visit and attend the graduation were Melodie Wood and Shawn Wood of Roy, Casey Dix, Tony Dix and Brian Dix of St. George, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dix, Angela Dix and Jason Dix of La Verkin. Kelley leaves this week to take part in national na-tional contests in his field. Many of the Pat Dix family attended the Bill Hatch mutton fry at Asay Creek and enjoyed camping along their old stomping grounds. Ron Greenhalgh went north for surgery. The Jay Riggs went to Provo for eye treatment and on to Salt Lake City but because of the power outage there could not complete com-plete their business. Hope Goulding, Hazel Houston and Avonell Tebbs went to St. George where Hope and other women were honored as outstanding women of the year by the Business and Professional Women clubs. Elizabeth Foy has had brothers and sisters here to work on their family history book. They added to the enjoyment en-joyment of the get-together by going go-ing to Brian Head, Zion and Bryce Canyons, and to Escalante and Boulder country. The Alden Blacks have had son Larry Black's son here from Richfield. Rich-field. The Gale Wilcocks are home from spending eight days in Hawaii where they say the sights to their hearts' content and also visited with their granddaughter's family, the Brad Slaughs, who were glad to see the folks from home. The Wilcocks visited a week in Salt Lake City with the Orville Henries and in Cedar City with the Lamond Davis ' and Even Wilcock families. They brought Dane Wilcock here for a few days visit from his job at Southern Utah State College. Dane returned to Cedar City with the Ron Proctors who were here to attend the George Proctor's Golden wedding wed-ding celebration. Incidentally, all 50 of the Proctor clan were here except one granddaughter who is in England. Eng-land. Tonya Thomas and daughters Carrie Hatch, Holly Thomas and Jaccie Thomas went north for medical checkups. Afton Chruch and Merle Stowell left for Salt Lake City where Merle will fly to Oregon to care for Jan Jeffs family while the Jeffs attend seminars back east. She will also visit Roberta Fowler and family for the July 4th celebration and do some camping in northern California. Califor-nia. Afton will go to Palo Alto, Calif., to visit friends. The Gale Wilcock's granddaughter granddaugh-ter Lisa Gai Henderson of Kanab was married in Reno to Richard Pringle, son of the Richard Pringles of Redding, Calif. The young couple cou-ple will make their home in Redding. Red-ding. Lisa is the daughter of Norman Nor-man and Alyce Wilcock Henderson of Kanab. Alyce stopped at her folks on the way to Salt Lake City to take daughter Susan Henderson to catch a plane to fly to Connecticut Connecti-cut where she will work as a nannv. An outstanding LDS Youth Conference at Brian Head sponsored by the Panguitch and Beaver Stakes reported over 400 people attending. |
