Show J CIST STUFF BY JflN Vk - v. What a coincidence! I have never fallen victim to a major coincidence. The best I can boast is passing someone on the strete who happens to be whistling the song that's been on my mind all day, or getting a phone call from some long lost buddy I was just going to call. That's vhat I call coincidence. But king size coincidences do occur. I mean the kind that tend to give you the heebie-jeebies when you hear about them, the kind you find is difficult to write-off as merely coincident. I was glancing through a book about "Mysteries of the Unexplained," and I happened onto the section about coincidences. As I read I found myself shivering in my shoes in disbelief. Now, I'm as skeptical as the next person about strange things. I'm one of those people who figures there has to be a logical, likely, explanation but the stories I read were "Sheer coincidence!" The captain of the El Paso County Highway Patrol was chasing a speeding truck. The truck slowed down to take a corner and the highway patrolman rammed into it. The collision ruptured an artery in the captain's leg. One Alfred Smith stopped at the accident and applied a tourniquet which saved the patrolman's life. Five years later the same highway patrolman received a radio call to assist a bad accident. A car had smashed into a tree and the unconscious driver had severed an artery in his leg. The patrolman promptly applied a tourniquet and stopped the bleeding. Then he stared at the victim it was, of course, the same Alfred Smith. Irv Kupcincet, columist and radio talk-show host was staying at the Savoy Hotel in London. He was surprised to find in one of the drawers in his room some articles that belonged to a friend of his. He was even more surprised when,. two days later, he received a letter from the friend who had been staying in Paris at the Hotel Meurice saying "You'll never believe this, but I've just opened a drawer here and found a tie with your name on it." Sheer coincidence? There was a man riding a moped in Burmuda who was hit by a taxi and killed exactly one year after his brother had been killed on the same street, buy the same taxi driver, carrying the same passenger, and on the very same moped. You call that coincidence? i call it scary! A woman killed herself after being jilted by her boyfriend, John Ziegland. He brother was out to avenge her death and shot Ziegland. The bullet, however, just grazed Ziegland's face and lodged itself in a tree. The brother, thinking he had killed Ziegland then shot himself. Thirty years later Ziegland was cutting down the tree that had the bullet in it. It was a big tree so he used some dynamite. The explosion sent the bullet from the tree and through Ziegland's heart. It finally found its mark. As a child, an astrologer warned Louis XVI of France to be on guard on the 21st of very month. It was June 21, 1791 that he and his queen were arrested as they tried to escape the revolution. It was September 21, 1792, that France abolished the institution of royalty and it was January 21, 1793, that Louis XVI was executed. Coincidence no one knows why it happens, or when it will strike again. It is a drama for which no script has been written, no actors chosen, yet everyone seems to play out his part, follow the cues, without reason but with perfect order. Call it coincidence, call it magic, call it fate. Whatever it is, it's down right WEIRD! |
