Show County Road Policy To Get More Study In business before the Garfield County Commission, Ron Greenhalgh, county road superintendent, was given permission to visit other counties and check their road policies before Garfield County revises and develops new'policies of its own. The commission voted to defer payment by the Henrieville Fire Department on the purchase of its fire truck. If Henrieville is not; successful in obtaining a Community Development Block Grant, the town was told that it must make payment to the county. The county is advertising for a new manager at Bryce Canyon Airport. Bids .will be opened in early March. The minutes of Dec. 31, 1984 were amended to show Malen Mecham as a member of the Tropic Cemetery Board in place of Malen LittlefieM. A public hearing on the Community Block Grant for .Bryce Canyon Airport was held at 1:30 p.m. Jaa 21. No public comments v.-cre submitted. Henry .Jolley proposed the dedication of a road in his subdivision. The commission told Jolley tha it would be necessary for him to bring the road up to standard before it could be accepted by the county, The commission ruled that the minimum assessed value of any real or personal property shall be $100. In a special meeting with the. commission called by Sheriff Vic Middleton, Middleton stated that he felt his deputies should not be called into dispatch service. Currently, the Sheriffs Department is $2,500 over budget. Deputy Bruce Heywood suggested that the Sheriffs Department be allowed to work out the $2,500 overage by November. It was decided that the department should upgrade policy and procedure to avoid future problems and that it should utilize personnel oq hand to keep the department functioning until new personnel can be hired. Arnold Keown will be called into work as needed and Heywood will also workldispatch on an as-needsd basis. Greenhalgh asked about getting River Lane Road on the federal and secondary road system. The commission decided to do long range study and planning before making a decision. The Utah Department of Transportation is doing a study on the dump road (Utah Highway 12 between Bryce Canyon and Tropic) reported District Three Director Howard Richardson to the commission. |
