Show Tropic Topics Ella Adair 7 848 It has been a very unusual and interesting I experience for our students to have an entire new group of teachers come in to our schools 1 this week and share their , ideas and teaching methods with them. The ' students gained a great deal from the experience as well as did the townspeople I who to generously opened their homes for the BYU II students to come and live with them for the time j that they were in the school. To those who so graciously offered their homes a great big THANK YOU should be said Several of the Tropic students will be entering college this week. Some as old students and others as new ones. Mary Ann Bybee will be at Dixie, Martin and Carl a Ramsay, Kathy Ott, Pat Francisco, Darrell Shakespear, in Cedar City, Kim Ott, BYU, Dale Pollock and Ed Shakespear, Trade and Tech College; Lyle J. LeFevre, BYU; Steve Mecham, University of Utah; Kimberlee Neimann, Dixie College. The senior citizens will meet tonight in the scout house at 7:30 p.m. A special program is being planned. Glade Stewart is visiting with his parents, the Reginald Stewarts for a few days this week. Glade is employed in Alaska. Mr. and Mrs. Val Shakespear visited with the Vernal Shakespear Saturday Mr and Mrs Andy Strebble and children, also Etna and Nelda, daughters of the Obie Shakespeare, were home over the weekend Nelda has just completed her schooling as a beautician Janita Pollock was home for the weekend Si an and Malen Mecham took Angelyn Mecham to the hospital in Provo for a checkup. Emilie Ott and son, from Taeoma, Wash, are visiting with the Wallace Otts while Brent is overseas. Gale Pollock is visiting with his parents the Herman Pollocks. The ward will have a temple excursion Sat. Sept. 23 in St. George. All who attend are asked to bring a lunch so the group may all have a picnic at the park in St. George following their temple session. There were many out of town friends and relatives in Tropic for the funeral services for David Mecham. Mr. and Mrs. Hogan Jensen, the former Jolene Pollock, spent four days with the Adrian Pollocks, enroute home to Salt Lake City. The Kent Wintchs were weekend visitors at Charley Wintchs home. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar LeFevre visited with Flora LeFevre this past weekend. There were 17S women attended the fireside program In the Tropic wnnl A very large crowd of relatives gathered in Tropic Sept. 16, for the IeFevre reunion. Merlin LeFevre, traveled from Espanola, N.M, to receive the prize for coming the farthest Amplus LeFevre received the price for being the oldest relative there. 'LaMond LeFevre had the youngest baby present Itha Nelson and friend Ed Wilson, from Vivian Beach, entertained the group with songs and guitar playing Speakers in sacrament meeting were Marty Vadrine, Guy Thompson and Delane Griffin, representing the stake high council. There were many relatives from out of town to the Martin Ramsay and Carta Willis wedding reception. Among those were grandmother Ramsay from Glen dale; Colleen Sorenson and Ferrek Kamb and families, sisters of Mary Lee Ramsay, all of Cartas sisters were there with their families from Nevada as well as the newlyweds college friends. Mark and Etna Cope, from Draper visited with the James Munsons. |
