Bf8THiW sS '"'"'''"''''J'w Panguitch-Hatch Parent-Teachers Association and Panguitch Elementary School each donated $350 towards the purchase of new playground equipment. Resides a spiral slide a Swedish gym "Back-to-School" night was held for the parents of the Panguitch Elementary students to help them know what their children will be taught the coming year. Bruce Owens, principal, conducted the meeting. Tressa Fonnesbeck, president of the Panguitch-Hatch Parent-Teachers Association introduced PTA officers who are JoAnn Ipson, first vice-president, Norma Pollitt, teacher vice-president. Terri Brown, education commissioner, is in charge of the pre-school and help plan a program for the gifted children of the school. Lana Davis is the individual development commissioner and is in charge of the arts competition which will consist of drawings, sculpturing, music and other special talents. She is also going to work with the Green Circle and the growing Circle programs, which are designed to help the students accept everyone in brotherhood of man, regardless of their differences. Karen Breinholt is the health and welfare commissioner and is in charge of the first aid programs. Lana Foy is in charge of the fund raising projects such as Halloween, spring carnival and planning a variety show. Beverly Lowe is membership commissioner. There will be a membership drive in October. A contest will be held with the class having the largest membership winning prizes. She is also in charge of the monthly newsletter. LaVern Jolley will be the service commissioner as soon as she moves to Panguitch from Tropic. Debra McKee is taking her place at the present time. She is in charge of the volunteer reading tutors and the room representatives. rwbra McKee introduced the class room representatives, Vesta Anderson for Hazel Hatch's room; Pam Christensen, Norma Pollitt's room; Elaine Matthews, Dorothy Houston's room , Marlene Miller, Caryl Hatch's room ; Lucille Proctor, Lonnie Pollock's room and Dona Price, Tom Simkins room The room representative for kindergarten has not yet been chosen Owens, introduced teachers and their aides Kathy DeLeeuw is helping Dorothy Houston and Tom Simkins; Ann Farnsworth is helping Norma Pollitt and Lonnie Poliock; Deanna Gillies helps Ceryl Hatch, LaFaun Pollock and Sheldon Jackson, Pat Leach, Dorothy Barney and June Robinson; Adell Higgs is helping Leland Higgb in the lit y and Title I program; Janice Hatch is helping with Peter Frandsen, LeAnn Moser is secretary , Thoia Leach, school lunch, Ike LeFevre, custodian, and Gary and swings will be put in the playgrounds. This will make 15 pieces In all for the students to play on. (See story page one). 6Baek-to-Schoor Night Attracts Area Parents Orton and Clark Fran-dsen, bus drivers. Some of the special resources offered within the school are occupational therapy, speech and hearing, and counseling. Title I is working primarily with math and reading. In the media center there are between 6,000 and 7,000 books, special learning equipment, film strips and tapes and 16 mm films. Each parent visited their childs teachers classrooms for a 15 minute explanation by the teachers of the programs they will be using and what the parents should do to insure that their children become good students. |
