Show - - - - - - v:- r The old bishop's storehouse in Panguitch Is built of red brick common in many early buildings of the area. It's classic style sets it apart and gives it a great historical value. The building is one of many historical sites. Historical Sites Abound In Panguitch-Hatch Area Panguitch has many historical sites to offer the local resident and people planning their vacation in this area. Many of the splendid homes are built out of the red brick which were formed and Tired inside the city of Panguitch by the builders of the community. The Daughters of Pioneers Museum brings back to life the many hardships our ancestors encountered for the growth of this area. Also the charming and happy moments are relived as their belongings are viewed. Because this is so near the birth place of the famed outlaw, Butch Cassidy (Robert LeRoy Parker), many places claim to have been part of his adventurous life. The Blue Pine Motel has intact the room he met his mother just before her death and after the rest of the world thought he had been killed in Bolivia. Three places once used to hold prisoners are still standing which claim to have held the renegade. A place used as a hideout is near Panguitch to the east, the home he lives in as a boy is located about 20 miles to the north. John D. Lee also played a very big part in the Panguitch heritage, with many of his descendants involved in the civic and spiritual activities of the community. John D. Lee's final resting place is located in the Panguitch Cemetery. The home is still standing where he stayed with his daughter. The home in which he lived has been razed. The old tithing house, the county-city courthouse, the magnificent buildings constituting the Main Business district of the city, the records located the kept by the great-great-grandchildren of the builders of this community, the old social hall which was built, burned down all but the walls and rebuilt, all help bring to reality the struggle, persistance and love these great people had for their community, Panguitch. |
