Show Panguitch'i unique rhythm band U still going itrong after many years of activities at special function! In southern Utah. The group still has five of the original members and the group Rhythm Band Still Popular , The Panguitch Rhythm Band was organized many years ago with 13 ladies in the original group, with Isabel Ipson playing the piano. They started by playing fa-Primary dances to help raise money to pay Primary supplies they needed. The children paid 10 cents each dance and the money was donated to the Panguitch South and North ward primaries. Over the years the band has participated in many activities and have appeared on radio in Cedar City, on a KSL-TV Show in Salt Lake City twice and have entertained for the Business Professional Women's State Convention in 1962. When William G. Bruhn was mayor the band performed for two bus loads of tourists, the tourists insisted on passing the hat for a contribution. Forty dollars was collected, the money was given to the seminary building project. The band float has been a 24th of July tradition and has won several first place awards. Children have danced to the rhythm of the band for many years. The band was invited to play at the Eldorado in Las Vegas and to appear on the Ted Mack has appeared on television as well as performed for state conventions. JL I Amateur Hour. I Five of the ladies playing c began with the original group. They are Florence Houston who I is president of the band, Isabel I Ipson, Dell Cooper, Lois 5 Maloney, and Dora Clove. Other members are Ruby Roe, Florence McEwen, Mary Henrie, June Owens, Lyla Miller, Hilma Excell, Liza Moore, fay Ella Prince, Thora Proctor, Leahta Moore and Verda Tebbs. |
