Show Local Job Service Office Helps Employment Rolls The Panguitch Job Service of the Department of Employment Security under the direction of Herb Allen, as manager has a computerized job bank containing current listings of thousands of different jobs available in Utah. They also have a computerized skills bank containing a current listing of job ready applicants who represent about 60,000 different skills for the employers. They provide testing, counseling, training programs, unemployment benefits, and job information for applicants, students and employers. They also have unemployment insurance. Besides the services they can offer at the local office they can also refer persons to public service careers, vocational rehabilitation, drug crisis clinic, overseas teaching program, peace corps, model cities proram; VISTA and the antidiscrimiiiation Division of the Industrial Commission. They can certify foreign workers for Utah employers; help the handicapped worker in locating work or training; provide the applicant with government listing, information about Salt Lake City employers, out-of-state and over-seas job information to job seekers. They can also give career information to those desiring. They offer news letters, special studies, wage and salary data, and will appear before large groups or on television to help the public. They provide part time and full time employment and volunteer programs for the older or retired worker. They also help the prison parolee locate training and or suitable employment. Testing available is typing, spelling, shorthand, aptitude, general educational tests for information or employers. They also have testing information about high school or college equivalency exams. |
