The devotions with a High Mass sung by Father Giroux, music was rendered by the Cathedral Choir. A very large congregation was present at Mass. The sermon was delivered by Very Reverend Monsignor Hunt who spoke on the Divinity of Christ. After Mass the choristers were served lunch in St. Marys Hall. The services throughout were well attended. Reverend A. A. Pinckney of the Cathedral Forty Church opened and the Hours spoke Monday evening and the Reverend J. S. Keefe at the closing Tuesday evening. Reverend Father Gosselin assisted as Deacon at Solemn Benediction for the closing. The November meeting of the Sodality was held the 18th of the month in St. Marys Rectory. Miss to replace Alice Clark was elected Miss Madelena Pedrotti who is at St. in Salt Lake, and Miss Mildred Tallon was elected treasurer and secretary, lit was decided at the meeting to give a card party the 2nd of December in St. Marys Hall. Committees were appointed by Miss Nora Boyle, president. vice-preside- nt Marys-of-the-Wasatc- h A delightful program of songs was rendered by the pupils of the school November 23rd in St. Marys Hall. Although many children were absent one could note that remarkable progress has been made by the children in this department. Each grade had special songs and some were rendered by the whole student-body- . The program was in charge of Sister M. Eusebia. The children of the school are hard at work at this writing on a bazaar to be given the 13th of December in the parish hall for the benefit of the school. Enthusiasm reigns supreme to make this affair a notas ble success, for the children have complete charge of all arrangements for the party. It is the first time such a plan has been carried out, but the children are assured of success with the cooperation of the parents and friends of the school. The bazaar will be conducted on a large scale; many beautiful prizes have been donated and those in charge assure us it will be the best party ever given in Park City. The pupils have heard that other schools of the Diocese have realized some respectable sums on entertainments of such nature, but they figure that this is only a drop in the bucket, so far as St. Marys school is concerned. They are out to set a record that will make the metropolitan cities feel amateurish in putting on bazaars. Watch for the Park City notes in January to see the4 fulfillment of this prophecy. Midnight Mass will be held this year in St. Marys Church A High Mass will be sung. The Mass in honor of Our Lady of Loretto by H. Mentzel will be rendered by the choir under the direction of Miss Kate Malone. Much interest has been shown in preparing for this Mass and the singing will equal anything ever heard in Park City. Much credit is due to Sister M. Eusebia who has helped the girls with the Mass. Reverend Father Giroux has succeeded in making arrangements with the Right Reverend Bishop for an early Mass beginning the first Sunday of December. This Mass will be at 6:40, and will be said primarily for the purpose of giving the workingmen a chance to come to Mass on Sunday. Their practical Catholic faith is beyond question, and it is certain that this Mass will be very well attended. The remembrance which the Saints in Heaven have of their sufferings and humiliations, delights them; they celebrate them in their songs of gladness, and if they could have any regret, it would be that they had not suffered more. The Saints who reign in Heaven have taught these things to persons who arc not there yet. Let us endeavor to remember this holy one of God. |
