Show THE INTERMOUNTAIN CATHOLIC 21 It will challenge attention as would the Cathedrals of old and it symbolizes the faith which inspired it. This magnificent temple is a confession of faith of the Catholics of Salt Lake. Families will come and go, revolutions will arise, but temples such as this remain as lasting monuments to those who built them, monuments to the living faith in human hearts. Beautiful words of praise by The Evening Telegram had this to say: non-Catholi- cs appeared editorially in the Salt Lake papers. The exercises in the Cathedral were most impressive. The authorities of the great Church were present in full force priests, bishops, archbishops and the Cardinal; the music was filled with solemn splendor; it is both majestic and beautiful. Those who heard the dedicatory sermon were charmed. It was a great day for Catholics, and if congratulations is an appropriate word to use in this connection, it is theirs in all heartiness. The Herald Republicans comment was : probably cannot appreciate as Catholics do the deeper significance attaching to the dedication of the Cathedral, but every soul in the town is stirred in sympathy with the devout people in whose lives that ceremony becomes so significant an event. There is no more beautiful Church nor more impressive furnishings and in no place known to men could worshippers assemble with deeper sentiments of reverent love, keener religions joy, than marked the service at St. Marys and in that reverence their neighbors of every faith cordially join. It has been no small task to provide the means which are expressed in the magnificent structure. What worlds of patient labor, of difficult planning, of vexatious reveries, and of unforeseen trials have been lived through and lived past by the good men and women who yesterday saw the perfection of their reward. If the rest of the world cannot go with them into the mysteries of the faith, the rest of the world can understand the triumph of serious and worshipful labor over many difficulties and the rest of the world can with earnest friendship congratulate the Catholics on the splendid accomplishment of their desires. And so that to the man from the most reverend prelates to the humblest communicant and to the many women and to the children, for all have helped, the communitys congratulations are extended.
