Show THE INTERMOUNTAIN CATHOLIC The girls proved themselves not only good cooks, but also charming entertainers. In the afternoon the boarders attended the remarkable screen production of Ben Hur at the Orpheum. A contest conducted by the Children of Mary brought in a goodly sum for the Church fund. Mrs. E. R. Alton won a beautiful doll by guessing her name, Margaret Mary. Mrs. Alton won also the first prize for securing the most guesses. Other prizes were awarded to the Misses Ida Murphy, Helen Cook, Dorothy Loughran and Mary Castles. The Sacred Heart Alumnae held a regular business meeting in the library on November 9th. Recent guests at Sacred Heart were the Misses Minnie Myers and Merle Murdock. Athletics at Sacred Heart continue to grow. The Peppy Athletic Club, composed of second academics, first academics and junior boarders, organized with the purpose of defeating the T. N. T. Athletic Club. Its motto is Vic view. name-guessin- g t 61 tory or Death, and itrcolors, black and blue. The officers are: Lucille Byrne, president; Nell Kinney, manager; Jean Acre, secretary-treasureand Madelaine Clarke, assistant coach. Teams of the two clubs fought their first battle in a volley ball game played on the campus court November 17th. The T. N. T.s were victorious. The musicians of Sacred Heart presented an unusual program on St. Cecilias Day. The more serious numbers were interspersed with selections chosen and trained by the pupils. Parents and friends of the children attended. The first quarterly examinations were held on November 22nd, 23nd and 24th. The Thanksgiving holidays began Wednesday noon, November 24th. Classes were resumed on the following Monday morning. The Reverend J. D. Lagan and Reverend Patrick Maguire were recent visitors at Sacred Heart. Sisters and students extend deep sympathy to Miss Jane Lewis on the death of her father, November 18th. r; |
