Parish Notes November 7th, one of the largest and most impressive funerals ever held in Carbon County was conducted at St. Anthonys Church in Helper for Eugene Mon-turo- . He was a veteran of the World War and his death was the result of disease contracted while in the service overseas. He was accorded great military honor by the American Legion of Carbon County and a huge American flag was the only ornament draped over his casket. Monsignor Giovannoni gave a wonderful sermon for the deceased. The St. Anthony Choir of Helper furnished the music and singing for the services at the Church and the American Legion rendered military services at the grave. Mr. Monturo was unmarried and thirty years of age. On Sunday, Castlegate, 9:00 a. m. course luncheon was served at small tables. An enjoyable time was had by all. Miss Angeline Martelle was hostess to the Catholic Girls Sewing Club on November 23rd. Luncheon was served to the guests at small tables, after which music and singing were enjoyed by those present. Mrs. Victor Litizetti will be hostess to the Notre Dame Club on November 30th. The Thanksgiving dance given at the Liberty Hall was a great success financially to the Ladies Altar Society of Helper. The proceeds are for the St. Anthony Church in Helper. Funeral services were conducted at St. Anthonys Church at Helper on November 22nd for Carlo Corinatto, Jr., son of Carlo and Domenica Corinatto. Father A. A. Pinckney of Salt Lake officiated. The Notre Dame Club gave its third annual Charity Dance on December 11th for the benefit of a Childrens Christmas Tree party and for other charity. The committee on general arrangements was Miss Lucy Martinelli and Miss Angeline Martelle. Joseph Massi of Price was buried from Notre Dame at Price, on November 23rd. Father A. A. Pinckney of Salt Lake conducted the services. Mr. Massi was killed in an automobile accident which occurred in Price on November 20th. f Father A. A. Pinckney of Salt Lake was in Prince during the absence of Monsignor Giovannoni in California. He conducted Mass both at Helper and Price on November 21st and was in charge of several funerals while here. The people of both places appreciated his visit here. Monsignor Giovannoni went to Vernal October 24th. On, the following day he said came Mass at St. Johns Church. Twenty-fiv- e to Church and fifteen went to Holy Communion. He returned to Price on October 28th. The difficulty of explaining why I am a Catholic is that there are ten thousand reasons all amounting to one reason : that Catholicism is true. G. K . Chesterton . Mrs. Minnie Wahl entertained the Catholic Girls Sewing Club at her home on November 18th. After the sewing hour a dainty two- - It is true that most mens light is greater than their heat, which is only another way of saying that we practice less than we profess. i |
