Show Laurel Deans Makes Daily Magic Sewing was a skill that seemed to have come naturally to Laurel (Mrs. Leslie) Deans. Her grandmother was a seamstresstailor making mens as well as womens suits and her mother sewed as well. This Halloween she crocheted small orange candy cups for the children. She has cases, dish towels, clothing items or toys have been made by Laurel for ward bazaars or welfare assignments. I enjoy sewing for the granddaughters when they are small, explains Laurel, but when they get older, its more difficult to make them fit well and not as much fun. Today her efforts are directed more to making dolls, animals or holiday favors rather than sewing. She taught herself to crochet by looking at an article and figuring out how to make it. Laurel is a good friend and neighbor and is one of those rare individuals who keeps in touch with old friends no matter where they move; and they always remember her for her generosity- Ann and Andy dolls.
