The program is designed to recognize service and good citizenship by students, teachers and parents. Nick Barber is faculty adviser to student government. Students, parents or teachers may nominate anyone in the school community for an award in many fields, explained a school spokesman. Classes vote on the nominees and the class mayors submit names of those chosen to the student government for approval. Receiving recognition in the first assembly held last week were Kelly Dunham, Scotty Beams, Odum Traver, Carrie Barnes, Ryan Lindsey, Krista Pinneo, Derk Harris, Chako Smith, third grade. Also, Tiffany Cherry, Shawn Hansen, fourth grade; Cheryl Farley, fifth grade; Julie Gourley and Deanna Hymas, sixth grade. Teachers being honored were Donna Cluff, Mr. Barber, Myrla St. Clair and Russell Tate. Parents receiving recognition were Jewel Salmon, Mary Myrup, Barbara Osborne, Shauna Reed. A highlight of the program was a song written by Dixie MacKay, in which the names of all those receiving awards were mentioned. Several changes in stake positions were effected Sunday in Jordan stake. Pita Kimkini was elevated from alternate high council status to the regular council. Carl Enksen was released from the high council and from his position as first counselor in the stake Young Men presidency, along with Larry Palmer, second counselor in the YM, and Jerry Powers, stake executive secretary. Mr. Palmer was sustained first counselor in the Young Men organization and Kendall Brigman as second counselor. Mr. Brigman was also sustained a high priest and member of the high council. Kim Russell was sustained stake executive secretary. David B. Boelter and Earl M. Anderson, both of the Jordan North 11th ward, were approved to become elders. Members of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic church Womens Guild will host their annual bazaar Saturday and Sunday in the church hall. More than 33 booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p m. on Saturday and from 10 a m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, offering a wide variety of handicraft and food items. Booths will include crochet, needlework, woodwork, clothing items, children clothing and many other items suitable for Christmas giving or for the buyer, a spokesman said.
