Show Italian Dishes Reign Supreme At The Barbiero Home What do football players eat? According to the parents of Paul Barbiero, No. 33 on the 1983 Judge Memorial football team, their sons favorite foods are spaghetti, spaghetti and more spaghetti! Paul enjoys pasta in any form as long as it has red tomato sauce over it. According to his mother, Pauline, he loves a thick hunk of bread with sauce and cheese on top. This love of Italian food came by no accident to Barbiero. His father, Luigi, was born in Calabera, Italy, and moved to the U.S. as a teenager. Barbieros mother is also of Italian background. Her grandfathers home was in Abruzzi, and her father came from Sicily. Both of Pauls parents are great cooks, but Pauline says that for groups of five or more Luigi takes over the culinary duties. Luigi began cooking for large groups when he was a military cook In the army. Since that time he has perfected large group techniques by preparing food for various fund raising or celebration dinners at St. Anns parish, Judge and the Newman center at Weber college. One of his latest endeavors was combining efforts with a cousin, Gabriel (Galey) Colosimo to cook spaghetti for the Judge alumni homecoming dinner. Team work is a part of the preparations for family birthdays and holidays and Luigi and Pauline combine skills to prepare meals for special times. Daughter Rose Maries graduation from the University of Utah was honored by a party with 100 guests attending.
