I did venture aboard Carnival’s new nonsmoking Paradise, but because I smoke,I stayed only long enough to mark the length of time between cigarettes. This new vessel, the eighth andfinal ship in Carnival’s Fantasy class, is the world’s first smoke-free megaship. When Paradise made a stop in New York before embarking Dec. 6 on its maiden voyage from Miami,it already had madewavesthat hadless to do with cruising than with curls of smoke. The motif in the Queen Mary Lounge, a venue for dancing and late-night comedy, includes movedfrom the ship. Paradise is a pretty vessel, with an ambience that harkens more to Destiny, Carnival’s biggest and, until now, most tastefulship.
