Show W tyt ' 4 a, J'jjb Out of nearly 10,000 miles of trout fishing stream in the state of Utah, only 61 miles is classified by the Division of Wildlife Resources as Class 1 or top t quality. 1 Hr By far the largest amount of stream water in Utah, around 6,000 miles, is classified as Class 2, or average quality. The remainder is in the category of Class 3, or poor quality. Class 1 stream water is the best stream fishing the state has to offer. By and large they are fish waters, meaning that natural reproduction is sufficient to support them as top quality and consistent producers. They are streams untouched by man or machine, and the wild fish population of browns and native cutthroat is unsupported by DWR plantings. These are streams for the discm? nating fisherman. The angler who is looking for more of a challenge than offered by the unwary rainbow planter is often alone on these scattered 61 miles.
