Show L. 4 (u i Fishing season, 1976, is just around the corner. Saturday, May 29, is the big day. Anywhere in the state is the place. You pick it north, south, east, west on a reservoir or beaver dam, on a river or a creek, theres a spot waiting for you. Over 350,000 Utahns will make opening day their day. Theyll line. the banks of every lake and reservoir from Hyrum dam to Kolob, and most places in between. Theyll be elbow to elbow on the best rivers and streams, trying to catch that first fish. The first day of a long pleasant summer of fishing. Its a big day for Utahns, not only fishermen, but merchants as well. Only Christmas brings in more money than fishing and huntinq. Vvnere to go and what to use? That's all inside. Reservoirs and lakes will draw the bulk of the load. Strawberry Reservoir again be king with oyer 10,000 people. Other hot spots like Minersville, Scofield, Panguitch, Pineview, Stanaker, East Can- will yon, Porcupine, dozen others will Soldier Creek, and a see from uuu to 7,000 anglers each. Rivers and streams will be high and muddy, as they are every spring. Some will be good fishing, most wont. That wont keep fishermen away, however, and streams like the Logan, Blacksmith Fork, Weber, Provo, Duchesne, Sevier, Fremont, Otter Creek will get their share of the action.
