Reps. Yvonne Brathwaite Burke who is chairJ man of the caucus, Ronald V. Dellums and Augustus .Hawkins announced their support of the California governor. In declining to endorse Democratic frontrunner ! Jimmy Carter, the three California Democrats .differed with other black leaders who are backing the former governor. ' Mrs. Burke said the endorsement of Brown is not in itself a negative statement against any other candidate. The fact that we endorse Brown doesnt mean, that we dont like Idaho Sen. Frank Church. It doesnt mean that we dont like Arizona Rep. Morris K. .Udall, she said. They are supporting Brown because of his basic' a very philosophy and because he has turned ' lackluster campaign into a very exciting campaign by stirring interest among voters, she said.
