The Spartan Page Emery girls are 5th in state Spartan spot Laura Blackwell EHS student body reporter Well, Emery High got hammered again by the professional critics in the newspaper. That makes two weeks in a row. We have some great voung men on our football team who never gave up even under trying conditions. They fumbled and made mistakes, but they didn't quit. I guess you can focus on the bad things or the good things. believe that coach Jones and the football team spend a lot of time trying to fix their problems, and I don't believe they practice fumbling. And I guess that a newspaper announcer can write whatever he wants, but we don't need more critics. We need more supporters. Our teachers, administration, student government and staff are all focusing on being positive this year. It's too bad that one expert" can be so negative with your young people. But since people will be negative, we have decided to help out our critics. Here are our suggestions for possible "Hammer Emery High" articles for the next eight weeks: The Debate Team- - Why are they so argumentative? colum-nisL'rad- io . competition cross-count- ry By 1 Compiled by the EHS journalism staff 2. Our band- - Too much sax and violins. 6 Cheerleaders- - Can't they just settle down and watch the game? 7. Lunch ladies- - Not enough surprise in the Tuna Surprise. 8. The Track Team- - Are they trying to run away from their problems? I think that all of our clubs and teams are doing a great job, but if you have to hammer someone, Mr. Siskel and Ebert, focus on these. We need to give a huge congratulations to Nikki Luce. She placed third in state cross county. And she's only a sopho- more. Great job Nikki. Emery girls fin- ished fifth overall, and the boys were th.
