The agenda for Saturday evening will deal with the development of congregation activities under the supervision of W. P. Shropshire, circuit supervisor for Jehovah's Wit nesses in the central Utah and eastern Nevada area. Shropshire commented that the convention is sponsored by the Watchtower Society with world headquarters in Brooklyn, N.Y. and will be presented as a free public service. Pleasant Grove Council Talks of Several Matters - By CLYONE B.LOWE PLEASANT GROVE The Pleasant Grove City Council dealt with various matters this week including sponsoring employees who are not employed and are on welfare. Jack Simmons, representative from the Utah Welfare Department met with the council to explain the welfare work program. Mr. Simmons reported that for some in- dividuals who are not employed and are on welfare, the state has set up a program where these people can be placed with a municipality who would act as a sponsor and provide work stations for these people. The state would pay 80 percent of the wage and the city would pick up 20 percent. requested that Pleasant Grove City consider acting as a sponsor for one or more of this type of employee, The council stated that this will' be taken under advisement. Contact Businesses Mr. Simmons The council approved having the city attorney contact those involved who are delinquent on their 1970 business licenses. It was reported that Delbert Ellis had contacted the council relative to the donation of a pine tree for use as a city Christmas tree. Councilman Paul Blackhurst was authorized to check with the Chamber of Commerce to see if they would want to use this tree. Where to locate the tree was discussed and it was recommended that the tree be placed in the city park on Main Street. Several years ago when Bert mu ixiUMM was may ui , been placed in the park to be used for decorating as the city Christmas tree. The council felt that the best location for this tree is out of the center of the business district.
