The annual Hill AFB Intramural Track and Field meet is set for May 23 at the Clearfield High School track. Field events begin at 1:30 p.m. and running events at 2:15 p.m. Field events include shotput, discus, javelin, high jump, long jump, and pole vault. Running events scheduled are 1 10 meter high and 300 meter intermediate hurdles; 100 and 200 meter dashes; 400, 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs; 400 meter relay; medley relay (200, 200, 400 and 800); and a mile relay. Organizations on base may enter three individuals in each event except relays. Only one relay team per event is allowed for each organization. An individual may enter any four events. Competitors should register with their unit's athletic representative by Wednesday. CES cruised through the winners bracket unscathed but found their lead threatened when they met 388 EMS in the championship match. 5 and 15-- wins EMS surprised them with which sent them into the 'if match. In the first game of the match, CES came back with 15-- 5 win and then clinched the second game 16-1- 15-1- ! 9 Contributing to the CES victory were Mark Barcelona, Hawk Halterman, Charles Irrizarry, Glen Porter, David Oppelt, Troy Farlow, Hugh Fleck, Cleo Bullie, and Pat Schmidt (coach). EMS team members included William Young, Billy Hopkins, Floyd Sanders, Tom Freed, Ty Stalheim, Fred DeGeare, Randy Peetz, Richard Barber, Edith Laberdesque, and Garry Henry (playercoach). '1 Golf tourney set May 2 1 The annual Hill Amateur Golf Tourney is set to tee off May 21 on the Hill AFB Golf Course. All area golfers with certified handicaps from 8 are eligible to play. Participation is limited to the ' first 200 paid entries. Entry fees are $25, payable to the Pro Shop by May, 18. There will be one flight with 25 low gross and 25 low net place payoffs. The Raiders didn't fare well in their contest when The Raider's score came they lost to Syracuse when Matthew Messenger blasted through the 7-- AYSO publicity 4-- 0. Regular season play for American Youth Soccer Organization teams ended last week with two Hill teams winning their last games of the season. Thanks to sunny weather, all scheduled games were played. The Red Devils, coached by: Ron Felts, overteam powered a strong West Point Pac-ma-n Coach Felts said this was the best game his team played this season. Red Devil goals were scored by Neil Capperton, Bradley Spear and Kyle Telander. The Devil defense was led by John Bradley, Joe Single, Christopher Kuykendall and Glen Bolinder. Coach Tony Harris' Rowdys beat the Clearfield Cosmos Rowdy forwards Manit Pothong, B.J. Lovell and David Dean made the four goals. Key defensive players were full backs Joey Shore, Devin Hale, Kenneth Hale and goalie Phil Coleman. The Cosmos score came on a free kick by Kevin Davis. Coach Kim Dicus' girl's team lost to a hard drivAmy Caudill and Michelle ing Syracuse -- 2 team Lovell put up a strong defense but couldn't hold the Syracuse offense. 3-- 1. 4-- 1. 2-- 0. ; 2-- 1. Syracuse defense. Raider forwards Michael Bowman, Michael Burk and Keith Allmon kept constant pressure on the Syracuse defense. Both the Syracuse goals were scored by Brian Arroyo. Another Syracuse team beat Coach Capperton's Falcons The Falcons faced their opponents with only 9 team members. Jason Baldwin and Chuck 6-- 0. Drury tried to contain the tough Syracuse team but fell short. The Falcons' offense was led by Danny Chaffin and Reggie Falcon. 2 The year old boys dropped a hard fought The HOI team scored when contest to Clearfield forwards Kelly Littlefield, Steve Collan and John Harmon connected for their scores. The hard driving Clearfield offense was held off by defensive players Mike Cuthrell, Ryan Harris and Spencer Wadsworth. 11-1- 7-- 4.
