Phillip Burton. Registration for the election closes May 25 for stateside citizens who are absentee California voters. Citizens who claimed California's Fifth District and voted in the November 1982 general election remain on the registration rolls and may apply for an absentee ballot. For more details, call the Hill AFB Voting Officer, Capt. James Robinson, Ext. 76975. (AFNS) 15.3 percent of all eligibles, have been selected for promotion to senior master sergeant. The selection board considered 17,135 eligible noncommissioned officers for promotion. In the previous cycle, 14,501 master sergeants were evaluated, and 2,448 or 16.8 percent were selected. The higher number of eligible master sergeants was attributed to an increased retention rate. Selectees will be promoted from Aug. 1, 1983 through July 1, 1984. B-- 1 passes fourth test The No. 2 prototype of the B-- 1 aircraft logged its fourth successful flight at Edwards AFB, Calif., test mission. The April 14 in a test was termed highly successful by Col. Mike Bar an, System Program Office Test and AFB, Deployment Director at Wright-Patterso- n Ohio. The aircraft completed its third successful flight April 12. The program is directed by the five-hou- 50-minu- r, te B-1- B Aeronautical Systems Division, AFB, Ohio. A $51,854,000 contract to upgrade the Airborne System fleet was awarded by Warning and Control the Air Force- Electronic Systems Division, Hanscom AFB, Mass. The contract, calls for manufacture of 11 kits to modify the aircraft. They communication will be improved by adding anti-jamaritime-surveillanc- e capability, and equipment, n additional radios. Arnold Braswell, commander-in-chie- f, Pacific Air Forces, has been nominated by the President to be placed on the retired list in his current grade, effective Aug. 1. A successor has not yet been selected. Lt. Gen. Winfield. W. Scott Jr. has been nominated for reassignment as Superintendant,. U.S. Air Force. Academy. He replaces Maj. Gen. Robert E. Kelley, who will become vice commander, Tactical Air Command. General Kelley has been nominated for promotion to the grade of lieutenant general. Maj. Gen, John L. Pickitt will succeed General Scott as deputy commander, United Nations Command, Korea, and. chief, of staff, Combined Forces Command. He is currently deputy commander for Personnel specialists and technicians are needed for special-dutassignments throughout the U.S. Most requirements are for sergeants through master sergeants. Two sergeants are needed by the 1947th Administration Support Group at the Pentagon. A technical sergeant requirement exists at Headquarters, Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Boiling AFB, D.C.
