Show Page 13 HILLTOP TIMES Friday, May 13, 1983 IQ) When the dust settles over the Golden Spike Coliseum rodeo arena Monday afternoon, the new 1983-8- 4 Rodeo Royalty will be ready to ride and represent Hill AFB. This year, 14 contestants will compete for the honor of wearing the Hill AFB banner. The competition will get underway at 8 a.m. Monday in the NCO Club Ball Room, when participants will be honored at a welcoming breakfast, after which they will meet the judges for the personality and appearance competition. This will also be the time when all contestants will be polled and Miss Congeniality named. At 6 p.m., the horsemanship competition will take place at the Golden Spike Coliseum in Ogden, after which points will be tallied in each area of judging, and the new 1983 Hill AFB Rodeo Royalty will be announced. This event is open to the public and is free of charge. Judges for personality and appearance will be Kim Holmes and Susan Huckleberry, Hill AFB employees and Joan Thompson, 1982 Miss Rodeo Utah and runner-u- p to Miss Rodeo USA. The horsemanship portion will be judged by" Gerald Manning, Herb Rose and Tammy Mitchell. Mr. Manning and Mr. Rose are local horsemen who have been involved in this portion of various contests for many years. Miss Mitchell is the current Miss Rodeo Utah. A local photography studio will also pick Miss Photogenic. Trophies will be awarded to the winners, in all categories. Competing for the opportunity of wearing the Hill AFB banner and tiara and reigning over a number of summer events are: Bambi Tueller, 26, of West Bountiful. In addition to being a mother of three girls, she is interested in horse breaking and training, skiing and sewing. She is also a member of the West Bountiful Ridge Riders. An active participant in contests, "she has placed 2nd in the trailer race, garnered 5th in the WRC competition Western Pleasure riding, and 6th in the Davis County Fair Green Horse Western Pleasure riding. She will ride her own Appaloosa named Champ Bar II. Vicki West 20, a Roy resident, is on the Weber State College rodeo team. She lives in Roy and is interested in swimming, camping, horseback riding, working with the handicapped, and teaching young girls the art of good horsemanship. In 1980, she was to the Utah High School Rodeo 2nd runner-u- p Queen, was West Jordon Rodeo Queen in 1981, and was Diabetes Round-u-p Rodeo Queen in 1982. She was also High School Rodeo Queen for the Oakers and Lehi Rodeos. She will ride her own quarterhorse, Princess Jo, in the competition. Susan Middleton, 16, is a member of the "Spikers" High School Rodeo Club, Captain of the She Taylor Junior Posse and a member of the snow water and in interested is and in resides Ogden skiing, volleyball, basketball, softball, dancing, ceramics, taking care of animals, barrel racing, pole bending and goat tying. She was the Duchesne County Rodeo Queen, first attendant to the Sevier to the Taylor County Rodeo Queen, runner-u- p 2nd to the and attendant Posse Junior Queen, will ride her own Grand County (Moab) queen. She quarter horse C. C. Cupid. LeeAnn Martin , 22, will ride her own horse named Top Clabber in the competition. A Clearfield resident, she is interested in riding and training horses, tennis, volleyball, football, sewing and cooking. She is a member of the Utah Paint Horse Association and a former member of the Boots and Saddle Club. She has competed in the Rodeo Queen contest at Defense Depot Ogden for three years and was named Miss Congeniality in 1982. Ruth Baldwin, 18, is a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the Utah HunterJumper Association and the Bndgerlana Jkngnsn 4-- H. (U.S. Air Riding Club. A resident of Willard, she is interested in English and Western riding, racing, driving and training horses, leather and woodworking, and crafts. She has been a contestant in the U.S. National Agriculture Award horse production contest and various horse shows. She will ride her own quarter horse called Cee Valley Go (Buddy). Deborah Ann Lyle, 16, is a member of the Tigerette Drill Team and interested in skiing and riding. She resides in Ogden and is a member of the Uintah Posse and the She will ride her own horse, quarter Bridgette. Jennifer Stamey 17, was named first attendant to the Roy Junior Posse Queen in 1982. The is a member of The Wild Ones Club and the Utah State Western Riding Club Association. Her intersts are Western riding, roller skating, photography, school and sports. She will ride her own quarter horse, Poco Tinky Ben. Kim Kinsey, 16, resides in Layton. She is interested in horseback riding, swimming, reading, sewing and barrel racing. She is a member of the Spikers High School Rodeo Club, the Davis CounIn 1982 she was chosen ty Junior Posse and 2nd Attendant to the Davis County Junior Posse Queen. She also competed in the Davis County Sheriff's Posse Queen Contest. She will ride her own quarter horse, Tinker Man's Luck. Kelli Hunter, 16, is a member of the Hooper Junior Posse, Riders of the Purple Sage Riding Club and the She resides in Hooper where she has been Little Buckeroo Queen, Little Buckeroo Princess and 1st runner-u- p to the Hooper Junior Posse Queen. She will ride her own quarter horse called Tommey's Tinker. Michelle A. Ramsey, 18, enjoys dancing, gymnastics, all outdoor sports, oil painting and charcoal sketching. The Roy resident was active in Roy High School where she was a member of the debate team. She is also a member of the Utah and American Appaloosa Horse Association. In 1982, she was 2nd Attendant to the Defense Depot Ogden Rodeo Queen. She will ride her own Appaloosa, Tennbits old-fashion- ed 4-- 9 LoriAnn Grose 4-- H. 4-- H. . Susan Gross Lad. Sherie Kay Hill ,19, is currently the 1st attendant to the Hill AFB Rodeo Queen. The Roy resident is interested in horseback riding and water skiing. She is also a member of the Wranglers Riding Club. In 1981, she was 1st Attendant in the Weber County Rodeo Queen Contest and Queen of the Roy Junior Posse. She will ride her own quarter horse, Charging Supreme. Karen Gross, 19, is the current 2nd attendant to the Hill AFB Rodeo Queen. The Ogden resident is interested in outdoor sports, hiking, fishing, boating and skiing, and wants to learn to scuba dive. In addition to her current title, she has also competed in various Junior Posse Queen and Ogden and Salt Lake City rodeo queen contests. She will ride her own quarter horse, Dark Reed. Susan Gross, 17, is the sister of Karen. She joys skiing, hiking, camping, fishing, soccer, football, raquetball, cooking and sketching. She is a member of the Uintah Junior Posse, and other school organizations. She has been a contestant in the CF Foundation, Pleasant Grove, Lehi, Tremon-to- n and Defense Depot Ogden Rodeo Queen Contests, and has been a Junior Posse Queen. She will ride her own quarter horse, Flashy New Edition. LoriAnn Grose, 17, is the current 2nd Attendant to the Utah State High School Rodeo Queen. The Hooper Resident has also been 1st and 2nd Attendant to the Chapter Sweetheart in the Future Farmers of America, and in 1980, was a member of the Northern Division K State Championship Rodeo Team.
